During winter, SCCF volunteers and plant experts lead weekly, educational Weeds ‘n’ Seeds plant walks on Sanibel and nearby off-island locations. All walks are on Monday mornings and last one to two hours. Explore our plant resources and click on individual events below for details.
Upcoming Walks
No reservations or fees required. Participants are encouraged to wear proper footwear for walking through mud/water and vegetation, especially for the events marked with an *asterisk!
April 7: Puschel Preserve, 9 a.m.
Weeds 'n' Seeds will meet at 9 a.m. at SCCF's newly opened Puschel Preserve, which has been landscaped (for the second time) thanks to generous donors, the Native Landscapes & Garden Center, Coastal Watch, and many volunteers. This is our LAST Weeds 'n' Seeds of the season!
Meet at the entrance for the preserve at the corner of Purdy Drive and Periwinkle Way. Either park at the Tahitian Gardens Shopping Center (1975 Periwinkle Way) or arrive by foot/bike.
March 31: Bailey's Beach Park, 9 a.m.
In our third attempt this season due to previous rain-outs — Weeds 'n' Seeds will explore Baileys Beach Park (985 Bayshore Lane, Sanibel) at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 31.
This narrow, bayside beach has significant damage as a result of the past hurricane season, but many of the native plants are recovering and growing. Cars with A/B stickers can park here. For cars without stickers, we will be offering car pooling from Tutti Pazzi (1200 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel) leaving at 8:50 a.m.
